Plot of the Novel
This book chronicles the lives of three best friends, Govind, Ish and Omi. The three young guys, hailing from the old city lanes of Ahmadabad, dream to succeed and attain fame. Short on resources, but big on aspirations, they set up a sports utility store and also start cricket coaching class for aspiring cricketers. Of the three, Govind is the most ambitious one and takes care of the store along with Ish. Omi gets finances in place for their business venture with the help of his affluent uncle. The trio set up their sports utility store in an upcoming mall, draining all their savings. However, the infamous 2001 Gujarat earthquake destroys their store and the building housing it, thereby denting a major blow to their hopes and aspirations. Govind starts concentrating on their cricket coaching class, while Omi gets busy in his uncle's party work. Ish starts taking tuition for Govind's younger sister and both of them fall for each other. The controversial 2002 Gujarat communal riots pull the once happy trio apart with politics, religion and love pushing them to the edge.
