Overview: A Time To Kill

A Time to Kill is a thriller novel written by John Grisham, and sheds light on socially relevant topics like social inequality, racial abuse and manipulation of justice. The book is based in the fictional town of Canton, Mississippi and talks about Carl Lee Hailey, an African-American man, who is distraught after his 10-year-old daughter, Tonya, is brutalised and left for dead by two racist white men called James Willard and Billy Cobb. The two men are brought to trial, but knowing that racial discrimination is rampant in this town, Carl Lee seeks vengeance and assassinates Willard and Cobb in the courthouse even before the trial can begin.

Carl Lee is then charged with murder and brought to court, where Jake Brigance, an attorney at law, is his only hope of being acquitted. But while Jake has a lot of help from fellow attorneys and the county sheriff, he is up against Rufus Buckley, a ruthless and corrupt district attorney, who will stop at nothing to ensure Carl Lee is put behind bars as he plans to use the murder case to leverage his career. Will Carl Lee be convicted for the murders? Will Jake Brigance bring justice to him and end the racial prejudice in Canton? Order this book online to find out what transpires in the thrilling courtroom drama.

John Grisham is my favorite writer of all time, this book is a strong and raw, with a solid story totally recommended. But certainly is not one of his best books, not end of catch and felt it could have been removed easily fill 100 pages to make it a little more "light", so to speak.

A story of justice.. 23 September, 2013 On
'A TIME TO KILL' is john grisham's first book and it was totally worth buying he has presented a complete book with formidable talent. A book that compels you excites you and which while reading chapter by chapter tells you to keep going until it gets over.
He has written about the feeling which comes like an instinct to every other parent who has suffered from such catastrophe but yet acquires guts to make it happen.
He has communicated with the readers by his characters and has expressed their state of mind, their actions exceptionally well and even though the story is fiction the emotions are as real as you and me.
The best part of this book was its end, he has shown even though racism exists in society but when it comes to being a human or a parent their thoughts become unanimous and thus the ending touches the soft corner of everyone's heart and even makes some people like me cry.

John grisham writes the best court room novel ever created on earth. He delivers a thriller you can trust, so I would recommend this book to everyone because as a book lover I can tell this book deserves to be read by everyone.
