Untruly Yours is the first novel written by Indian writer Smita Shetty. This book follows the life of a married NRI woman who sets on a journey of self-discovery, after having spent years in happy matrimony.
About the book
The plot revolves around Natasha Iyer who, in the eyes of many, leads the perfect life. She is married to a well-respected US-based Indian psychologist, Rakesh, and the couple has an 11-year-old son. While the family looks perfectly happy from the outside, Natasha has started to experience an unexplainable dissatisfaction in her relationship with Rakesh. While Rakesh is seemingly oblivious to her wife's problems and is satisfied with life and family, Natasha seeks passion, romance and excitement from the relationship.
Natasha's life takes an unexpected turn when she gets a call from India, which leads to her embarking on a journey of self-discovery. She is accompanied for the journey by Steve, a strikingly handsome colleague from work. Visiting her native country after a long time, she discovers that even though urban India has evolved considerably in many aspects, some deep-rooted social issues still existed. During the trip, she also runs into an old friend Veer, who adds an element of nostalgia to her emotional ride.
After being a dedicated wife for several years, Natasha is not very comfortable and well-equipped to handle the romantic advances of both Steve and Veer. While dealing with the unexpected flirtation and seduction, Natasha has to take some hard calls so as to ensure that she does not lose control of her life.
