Vishwanathan or Viz (Kamal Haasan) is a Kathak dancer and happily married to Nirupama (Pooja Kumar). Nirupama however, finds her husband quite effeminate and is seemingly in an extra-marital affair with her boss. Planning a divorce, she appoints an investigator to spy on her husband and extract secret knowledge about him that might help her fight the case and get the divorce. The secret investigation however, reveals a complete different picture and Nirupama gets to know the true identity of her husband. The Kathak dancer is actually the choreographer of a secret mission which aims at busting the sleeper-cell of Al Qaeda in America. The story goes back and forth to inform us about Vizs past and his link with the terrorist group and his friendship with Omar (Rahul Bose). In a chain of events, while the bombing of New York is being planned, Viz is arrested by the FBI. There is a second twist in the tale when the FBI realizes that Viz is actually an agent of Research and Analysis Wing. With the help of Nirupama, the bomb is defused and the film ends with Viz hinting at his next plan of going after Omar.
