About the Author
Norman Lewis was born in Brooklyn, New York City, on 30 December 1912. He has a reputation of being a prolific author, lexicographer, grammarian and an etymologist. He completed his Masters from Columbia University. While studying there, he wrote his first book, Journeys Through Wordland for sixth graders in the year 1941.
After his graduation, he started his teaching career at the New York University and also taught at the City College of New York and Rio Hondo College. He then had a significant career stint of 15 years in magazine writing. He wrote a well known column for Leisure. Apart from that, he has authored many well known books like Instant Spelling Power, Rapid Vocabulary Builder, How to Read Better and Faster, Roget's New Pocket Thesaurus in Dictionary Form, 30 Days to Better English, and 30 Days To A More Powerful Vocabulary.. He passed away in California in 2006, at the age of 93.
