This movie will leave you with great happiness and tears in your eyes. Alan Bates as Basil plays a characters that is Fussy, prudish and edgy. He is making to journey to Crete in order to claim his inheritance, mines as well as some land.

While on his way, he is introduced to the untidy Alexis Zorba who expresses a desire to be a supporter/ henchman. Unable to deny Zorba�s request and his lack of Knowledge about the native Cretans makes his comply with Zorba and take him along. But Zorba is much more than what Basil had thought. Apart from Soup and good music, Zorba is passionate about his women, living life to the fullest and wine. Although he displays a very cheery personality, he has a secret painful past that. Basil soon learns and discovers the way to live his life and seek happiness in every simple thing.

Michael Cacoyannis who wrote and directed this film received two Oscar nominations for this film as he beautifully created the character of Zorba who loves dancing, drinking, and women as weeps, worries and laughs like there is no tomorrow. He is very mischievously yet do not mean to harm anyone ever internationally. Alan Bates is the perfect equivalent as Basil as he essays the role of an Englishman who loves reading his books and prefers to uphold all his pains and furies in him. Now get this great movie home and learn how to laugh and live your life to the fullest.
