    terrific firepit
Was surprised once received that it looked nicer and a bit darker than in photos. Easy to put together and a breeze to clean with removable pan.

    Nothing like the picture.....
I received my fire pit within a reasonable time, however, it looks nothing like the picture..I purchased this particular item because of the unusual finish & when it arrived the finish is a cheap black paint with some orange showing thru...I am very disappointed.

    Color not as pictured
Color is not at all like the photo. It's a dark brown with some orange showing through. It still looks nice but not what I expected. I had a clay stove before and decided to try one with a view of the fire all around. Only problem is that the smoke goes every where instead of up. Good way to keep bugs away but hard on your eyes. Ordered it with super savers shipping. Was told it would take four weeks to arrive. Recieved it in just one week. Nice surprise. Ok item but wouldn't purchase it again.

Update, it lasted two years and ended up in the junk pile.

    Winter Warmth and a Cigar
I bought this unit along with some adirondack chairs and a small table so that I may sit outside during the winter (not in severe weather) and smoke a cigar. I must say besides being attractive and being easy to assemble that this fire pit allows anywhere from2 to 6 people to comfortably sit around it and stay warm. I burn hard woods in it anywhere in the neighborhood of 2 - 4 hours and have not noticed any warping or buckling, the door is a little flexible but it is made of the same screen material as the rest of the unit and is holding up nicely. It opens and closes easily. If your wood has a propensity for popping I have noticed that the screen material could be considered a touch too large, but I don't think it is enough of a minus to give this fire pit any less of a rating

    disapointed
When the box came, it was over half ripped open. I thought it was either a return or someone opened it and I may have missing parts. It took a long time to assemble. The color was not at all what I expected (black and rust color as opposed to beige and gold) to match my deck which is why I ordered it. I expected the functional burning grill to be larger. Its measurements were from the outside of the grill. The ash drawer does not fit and I guess I will have to take it apart somewhat to enable it to fit. The drawer is about 1/16" too wide to slide in. I do like the shape of the fire pit.

    Nice Fire Pit
For the price, this is a very nice fire pit. It looks good and works fine. I did find the instructions a bit more complicated than they needed to be but it was not hard to put together.

Bought as a gift recipient likes it
The recipient is into his first spring in his new house, and is really enjoying his firepit.

Why can't it be packaged better
I ordered this fire pit to have for a special birthday party. However, it came broken and dented and chipped. There is not enough time to order a replacement unit. Too bad the packaging can't be more robust. This is a 100 lb unit, and it comes in a flimsy cardboard box, poorly padded.
I was really looking forward to having this unique pit at my party.

    Beautiful
The fire pit is beautiful. I love the finish on it. Easy to put together, and a nice addition to the patio.

Not If You Want It To Look Nice
Like many of you, I purchased this outdoor fire pit, in part, because it looked unique and different from the others to choose from. I purchased this item about 18 months ago and I am still using it, but I waited this long to write this review, mostly because I was so disappointed in the end product. While it was packaged horribly and arrived looking like it had rolled down about 4 flights of stairs I really didn't care, it is made of metal, after all and it really was very easy to put together. I should also state the Veranda Hyde Park Outdoor Fire Pit functions just fine, however, after 1 week of sitting outside partially exposed to the rain it rusted like you wouldn't believe. Instead of the cool brushed, marble-ish look I bought it for, it is a rusty orange piece of scrap metal. I can't touch it, move it or brush up against it now without being covered in rust and it has become somewhat of an eyesore. I suppose if I was running a scrap yard or had a lot of antiques hanging around it would fit in better, but I really don't think it was designed to be out in the elements for very long. I would have given it two stars, if I had any problems with its functionality and to be honest it WAS designed to house things while they burn, but I really liked the way it looked and only got to enjoy that for about 5 days. If the ONLY thing you care about is whether or not stuff burns inside it, but this. If you actually wanted to look at it every once in while when it didn't have something aflame inside it, look elsewhere for the price.
