low battery life 3 December, 2008
As far as the quality of the trimmer, you get what you pay for. I had a wahl trimmer for about 10 years that was plastic, but it was great. This one is cheap plastic that feels like its going to fall apart. The main drawback is that is sucks that battery life up fast. The first batteries i put in were cheap, so i upgraded to quality batteries with little difference. I use it every other day and i say batteries will last maybe a month if you dont mind the pulling when the batteries get worn down.

    Ok Trimmer 25 May, 2013
The trimmer part of this is excellent, don't like the heads. The comb heads have to be sort of forced down onto the clippers and they are very short, way shorter than I liked. It's inexpensive and runs on regular AA batteries so I will keep it anyway as it's a fairly high quality trimmer.

Too much plastic 22 May, 2013
Its just a walmart version of their beard trimmers. I'd shop around more next time. It also goes through batteries to fast.

they threw it in when i bought some hair clippers, batteries not included so i haven't tested them but the stand is kinda cheesy and there isn't a slot for the nose hair trimmers in it.

    Cheap, Loud 2 May, 2013
I can't complain much considering the price. It does well on batteries. It's very loud. Didn't buy it for the nose trimmer but it turns out that works well too.

    Battery compartment a problem 20 April, 2013
I had one of these for some years, but the batteries did not fit well into the compartment. Finally it was impossible to get them to fit correctly so I thought I'd get a new one, thinking that Wahl might have solved the problem. They did not. Once in properly the trimmer works well. Like most everyone I've had many battery operated devices and never had this problem with any other. Minus the battery fit problem, the trimmer does a good job.

    Decent trimmer 12 April, 2013
This trimmer is a decent trimmer. Battery operated so it's only so powerful. I have yet to have to replace the batteries on either unit, so that's a good thing. A little loud, but not an issue for me. I bought it strictly on price.

Plastic doesn't take to heat well. 11 February, 2013
I was expecting something a bit more durable. It says here that twelve more words are required. That's about it.

    A bargain! 9 February, 2013
I have owned several versions of this Wahl beard trimmer. The main design flaws are a) the outer blade housing is prone to rust; and b) eventually the built-in battery completely dies. This Wahl 5537 at least addresses the battery issue because it uses two AA batteries (the nose trimmer uses one). I am optimistic that this will lengthen the service life of this unit. The rust issue appears to be cosmetic; I have never observed it to actually affect functionality. RJB.
