13 of 15 people found this review helpfulByI Love this Camera 9 June, 2010I'm writing my review because of the unfair one from the Big Man who wrote his review. Yes, this camera is made for a woman. It is very 'girlie' and I love it! It has lovely rhinestones and it is so very petite. I am not a teenager....in fact, I use this camera to take photos of my kids and grandkids. I carry it in my purse in the very cute little purse that comes with the camera. I also bought a rechargable lithium battery for a few bucks and it lasts all day. Took it to Disneyland and had a blast just reaching in my purse, pulling it out and shooting movies of the little ones all over the park. It's fabulous for the price. No, it's not a high price camcorder but that's also not what I paid . . . REALLY! Get over yourself and see that this is a great 'bang for the buck'. I LOVE IT!
Remember, it's an inexpensive camera and you won't be disappointed. So much fun!!!!!! -
6 of 6 people found this review helpfulByToy Like Quality & Terrible Support 17 February, 2011Recently had received a DXG 533V camera as a Xmas gift from a family member. It's a HD model sold via the Shopping Channel and pretty much the same unit as the 535 and 580 models.
First impression out of the box was cheap plasticy and gimmicky. Controls were the first source of utter frustration, just trying find out how to turn the damn thing on or start recording was a pain in the ass. Nothing was intuitive or clearly marked. Swear to God someone in China who never had used a camera in their life must have been given the task for the design of this thing.
I could give a dozen things but here's just a couple .
There's a tiny little scroll type wheel that you have to ever so carefully try and use to scroll with your thumb for a whole variety of functions being extremely carefully not to at the same time be pressing it to hard while trying to scroll otherwise you will inadvertently be making a selection of something you don't want to select. And yes within a day of using it this happened while simply trying to delete one vid all our vids got deleted with no "Are you sure you want to delete all files?" option being givin as a safe guard.
In addition the recording quality was pitiful with numerous vids having sound and picture out of sync and audio recording of musical instruments sounding wobbly in places etc.
In addition there's no way to use the camera as a HD webcam or as a direct feed Movie Maker type software as most other cameras do now which was a major drawback.
Then when we couldn't find the CD driver that came with it we went to the website to try and download it only to find no listing for this model at all. Called today and tried to get an answer why there was no listing and got some very rude tech support guy that basically gave no apology for the frustration and hassle I had to go through in not finding it on their site and just dismissed the issue by saying well you don't need it to download vids to my computer anyway. (Well my computer running Vista actually does not recognize this camera when plugged in and doesn't find the drivers.) I tried to explain that my original question was how do I get the download of the proper drivers that came with the camera he starting pulling some A Hole power trip on me claiming I interrupted him etc. and just got belligerent with me. I told him where to stick it and hung up.
Only reason hadn't immediately returned it was it was a gift and didn't want to offend a family member by telling them what a frustration the whole camera had been.
So my advice, stay clear of all that this company has to offer.

It doesn't come with a way to run it on AC power with a power adapter which would be nice and you'll need to keep extra AA batteries on hand as they tend to run down pretty quickly if recording video. On the upside it produces a pretty good quality video.

Tho I like it, and it works fine for what I use it for, the MOV files format it films in was my issue. They aren't acceptable formats on most video editing software. It requires me using Quicktime player and the video editing software it does come with messes up sometimes on my computer. I would like to try this little camera again, but I'm unsure if the minor glitches I mention have been fixed since then.

YOU'LL GET THE SAME VIDEO QUALITY OR BETTER FROM A CHEAP WEBCAM.
IT DOESN'T COME WITH A MEMORY CARD EITHER WHICH REALLY SUCKS !
SO YOU MIGHT GET ABOUT 1 MINUTE OF JUST ONE VIDEO CLIP.
THIS IS MORE LIKE A KID'S CAMCORDER.
BUT EVEN SANTA CLAUS WOULD NEVER BRING THIS DAMN THING !
SAVE UP YOUR MONEY AND BUY A BETTER CAMERA. -
ByAwesome Sause! 5 June, 2013This little sassy camcorder striked me fancy when i saw on Amazon. Unfortunately, i got from ebay for $25 bucks. Came to the mail today and i was delighted that it came so quick but not like Amazon, it played videos and photos up to 8MPS! Can't to record some inspirational videos and photos said my friend. Update in a few weeks!
Get this little camcorder for the special events! -
ByI love this camera I don't know why it has such bad reviews! 8 January, 2013I had seen this camera on Amazon and i had been looking for a good quality cheap camcorder. When i came across one i just adored it and begged my mom to get it. When i opened it on Christmas day i just loved it! It was white with little gray rhinestones on it and had the cute little screen so you could see what your filming. Since i was too lazy to read the instructions i had been struggling for the first five minutes but, after that it was a piece of cake. The video quality was amazing and the design of it was really cute. The controls are so simple a infant could do it. The guy/gal who wrote that paragraph on how "The controls are so hard!" was obviously lying or is just plain stupid because I'm not the brightest blub in the tanning bed but, i figured it out in ten minutes and now can do it blind folded. The video quality of it is like i said is amazing and i am happy with my camera. The only flaws is that it needs a memory card because it didn't come with it so you could only film for about a minute and twenty two seconds. I bought a memory card at Best Buy that hold almost four hours of footage for a low price so i was very satisfied with my purchase. Also The batteries only last for about 30 minutes but, you could buy a chargeable batteries from Amazon that will give you more than 30 minutes. I am so happy with my camera and i don't know why it has been getting bad reviews. Overall it's a 5 because of the low price of 60.00 dollars i had bought it for, the video quality,simple controls, and of course the pretty pattern on it! I hope you buy this camera.

ByI am ABSOLUTELY Amazed 4 January, 2013This camera looks beautiful. I am totally in love with it. It is very stylish and looks amazing. The problems are though that I can't find SD cards big enough to record a great amount of video and the zoom in only goes to 3X. If you are looking for a good recording camera I don't think you should be looking in this direction but if you are looking for something of a fair quality, low price and great style you got your video camera

10 of 16 people found this review helpfulByThis is NOT a guy's camcorder!! 27 December, 2009Recently I mentioned to my wife that we should get an inexpensive camcorder to replace our old, never used VHSc camcorder. Well, she found the DXG-535V and ordered one. When it arrived I opened the package and saw right away that I was not going to be using this camcorder. She ordered the black camcorder, but it has rhinestones on the side! Since I take most of the pictures and videos in the family, I informed her that if we kept this unit, that task would now fall to her. I was not going to use this "girly" camcorder. I swear that this unit was designed for the teenage girl market!!
Regardless of my initial impression, I found that the camcorder is not very well made. It takes four AAA batteries, which cannot last very long, but worse yet, the batteries are locked in place using a hinged plastic door with two very small plastic clips. I previously had a Minolta camera with a similar design and the clips broke off after three battery replacements, and I really doubt that these will last much longer. In addition, getting the door to close evenly, and securely, took quite a bit of effort.
I also found that my hands were just way too large to work with this camcorder. Rotating the buttons, adjusting the zoom, pressing record, etc proved to be very awkward. Again, I think the target customer was teenage girls, not guys with large fingers and hands.
As far as the movies and pictures go....think throwaway digital camera. The pictures were not very clear and the movies were rather "flat" looking, there was no depth to the movies. Overall, this camcorder seemed more like a toy, than a real camcorder.
