    the reader let me down
I bought the Sony reader as a present for my wife this Christmas. Big mistake. It never worked properly from the word go. After charging it up for the first time, I looked forward to downloading a book from the reader store. That worked. But what didn't work came afterwards. After flipping a few pages of the book the device froze. And I mean froze! Nothing would unfreeze it! I tried the on/off button. I tried resetting. I tapped like mad while re-setting or powering off. Then at times I had false hope. Hey, at last the thing seemed to work (how sad can you get?), and then, suddenly, without any reason, the book would spontaneously reboot. And then it might or might not freeze afterwards. So after hours of freezing or spontaneous rebooting I decided that I would have to take it back to the shop. Which I did. I have the replacement, which - touch wood - appears to work. But before I regain confidence in the thing I'll have to put it through a week-long probation.

    Battery is awful
I just bought this in red two weeks ago, and while it is easy to use and set up, there were two things which bothered me. The first is that the battery life is advertised as lasting a month which is not true. In fact, I exchanged the first one because the battery lasted only three days but the replacement does the same thing.
I would rank this a 5 Star product if the battery lasted at least 7 days, but it is very inconvenient to have to charge it every 3-4 days!
Also, the location of the SD card has moved from previous models, so it fits in the back, which is a bit clumsy with the case, and harder to access. I also cannot use any of the Reader features because, while they sell it in NZ, I can't register at the sone=y store, so it won't allow access!

    Sony E Reader
I bought the Sony E Reader, and I actually don't have much bad to say about it. My computer didn't agree with me, it didn't like the Windows 7 program... What I did not like about the product was the Sony Online Book Store. The Sony Online Book store prices were outrageous, you may as well buy a hardcopy of the books! If you're going to get an e reader, check into the costs of the online books. Not to toot Amazon's horn, but if I had it to do all over again, I would have went with the Kindle simply based on the price of the online books.

There was a little bit of glare on the screen when light hit it, however the device is easy to use (which I did like). (I actually gave it away, so I am recalling from memory). You can change the font size on the books which was also cool for people who are near or far sighted. I hope this helps.

nice ereader but missing one important feature
Overall, it is a good ereader which has so many features available in its thin size. However, one important feature is missing out there is it is not readable at all in a dark room or a room without enough light. We need this ereader the most during the night time, when we accompany the kid for his sleep, this is the major reason we still need the ipod around during that time.
